Six habits that keep LPG safe at home

Most LPG incidents trace back to a small number of avoidable habits: a worn hose, a cylinder stored in an unventilated space, or a leak test done with a flame instead of soapy water.

Before connecting a cylinder, inspect the body, valve and seal. A damaged, rusted or unsealed cylinder should never be accepted from any supplier.

Keep cylinders upright on a firm, level and ventilated surface, away from heat, electrical sockets and drains. Turn the valve off at the cylinder after every use.

If you smell gas, do not switch anything on or off. Close the valve, ventilate the area, leave the premises and call for assistance.
